Manufacturing Engineer/Cnc Programmer

Tibor Machine Products, a leading manufacturer in the contract manufacturing industry to the Agricultural, Construction and Forestry industry, has an immediate opening to fill a Manufacturing Engineering/CNC Programmer position for our Bridgeview, Illinois facility.

Primary Job Function:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to develop and evaluate manufacturing processes to support customer prototype and production on new and existing products. Focus is on achieving an optimum relationship between cost and quality utilizing Lean and Six-sigma best practices. This position is responsible for every aspect of manufacturing engineering, production standard costs, tooling recommendations, fixture development, CNC programming, improving operating performance, identifying and reducing waste, and troubleshooting. This position will demand high visibility at the floor level, and team participation in the continuous improvement activities for the business.

  • Support production personnel in the development and implementation of standard work methods geared towards efficient utilization of work cell space, equipment, and product flow.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes with the goal of continuously improving process performance, machine utilization, and reduction in setup time.
  • Support the new product introduction (NPI), internal process change (IPC), and process validation studies. Maintain visibility at the floor level to ensure a successful launch from cradle to grave.
  • Develops product estimates/quotations using Gibbs Cam, and NC Plot in an Excel format.
  • Implements Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma processes in support of process reliability, and manufacturing cycle time improvement.
  • Develops CNC programs for both turning and milling programs, and troubleshoot the associated processes at the shop floor level.
  • Create 2D drawings and production fixturing through AutoCAD.
  • Develop production sequence/routings, work instructions, and engineering process sketches related to CNC machining.
  • Proactively participates with customers and suppliers on the determination of required product specifications.
  • Approximates production time, and related costs to provide accurate/timely estimates for customer quoting process.

Position Requirements:

  • B.S in an Engineering discipline, preferably Manufacturing Engineering, or a minimum (3) years of machine shop experience required.
  • Experience grounded in low volume/high product mix environment.
  • Experienced with CNC programming (G code) of Mori, Okuma Lathe and Mill, and Haas Milling machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes at the shop floor level based on strong knowledge of cutting tool applications, GD&T, and proficient use of precision measuring gages.
  • Confident self-starter supportive of cross-functional team environment, and development of best practices using six-sigma practices.

Desired Skills:

  • ISO 9001:2008 QMS Environment
  • Must be proficient in Gibbs Cam, AutoCAD, and working knowledge of NC Plot
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and AS400 system a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

CNC Lathe and/or Machining Center Operator

Works with computer numeric controlled (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal. May operate other machinery to include horizontal boringmill and CNC vertical and horizontal lathes.

Job Description:

  • Performs layouts, sets up, machine tools as required.
  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.
  • Reads and interprets all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Measure, mark and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Select, align and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines to include mills, lathes and grinders.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust the machine controls as necessary.
  • Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
  • Improves methods for higher quality and improved costs.
  • Assist maintenance in diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance.
  • Adheres to company and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Position Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience
  • Must be able to speak and understand English.
  • Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training
  • Programing is a plus
  • Familiarity with Mori Seki, Okuma and Haas machines a plus.
  • Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively set up and operate all or at least most, of the machines.
  • Ability to perform with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Working knowledge of tool geometry and application.
  • Working knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime as required

Quality Assurance Inspector

Tibor Machine Products is a leader in the contract machining industry. As one of the Midwest's largest machining companies, Tibor Machine Products can handle volumes from prototype to production. We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team in Bridgeview, IL.

Job Description:

  • Approves incoming, in-process, and finished goods production products by validating conformance to specifications
  • Conducts visual and measurement tests according to company guidelines
  • Operates Brown & Sharpe CMM (must have working knowledge of PC-DMIS)
  • Documents inspection results by completing First Piece reports
  • Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety and general housekeeping
  • Able to lift and move parts up to 30#

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience as a Quality Assurance Inspector or similar role.
  • Must be detailed and multi-task oriented
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Working knowledge of GD&T;, and various inspection equipment
  • Ability to work 2"d shift, 4 (1Ohr) days a week Monday - Thursday. Friday and Saturday OT, as required
